Go To and navigation behavior
Understand how Inspector Go To actions select, focus, and open the Visual Components context for a result or reference.
What Go To does
Go To is a navigation handoff for a known result or reference. It validates the target, uses its context ancestors to reach the right Visual Components editor or application context when necessary, then focuses the camera on the closest visual representation.
Where it appears
- In Search, double-click a result or use Go to selected in the result context menu.
- In a Notes reference badge, use Goto. The badge action is available for an object or a stored position.
- In a gadget or other Inspector result, use the exposed Go to action when that result supports navigation.
Selection and context effects
Go To can have more than one visible effect:
- A selectable layout object is normally made the current Visual Components selection.
- An object that belongs to a feature, property, process, flow, product, or robot-program context can activate the corresponding editor or context so the result is usable there.
- The camera is focused after context and selection changes, using the closest visual object or an available feature bound.
The target is not always the final selected item. For example, a statement or editor-owned object may be selected inside its editor while the camera focuses the related component. Use Select when the required outcome is only a Visual Components selection, and use Inspect when the required outcome is Object Inspector data without an editor handoff.
When navigation does not complete
- A deleted or otherwise invalid object cannot be navigated to. For Notes, inspect the reference badge state and use the remaining position or text context if one is available.
- A non-selectable result may still provide context in the result tree, but Go To can return without changing selection when no valid target or visual ancestor exists.
- If the camera focuses the related component rather than the exact row, inspect the displayed context path and then use the relevant editor or Object Inspector action for the finer-grained target.
Go To observes and navigates the current session. It does not edit a component, script, property value, or layout file.
